But from one minute to the next, nothing in Kathleen's life is the same again... On a trip to the nearby forest, the experienced educator takes over the management of the motley group of children. The mood on this November day is exuberant and everyone is looking forward to the planned campfire after the hike. But suddenly, while counting, Kathleen notices that two children are missing. Jenny and Nico are gone. The colleagues Nina and Miriam, who ran in front and to the side, did not notice the disappearance either. A dramatic search with a tragic outcome begins. In a mixture of guilt and emotional overwhelm, Kathleen desperately searches for what happened. She needs to understand who is responsible for the accident. Also, what is their part in the disaster? How could that happen to you as an experienced group leader? Why didn't she notice the children's disappearance, outside, in the nature that was so familiar to her? The parents in the day care center turn their backs on Kathleen and her colleagues. Eventually, Kathleen is released from her leadership. The educators clash, and son Luca also has stress at school. Because the accident Nico is the son of neighbor Melanie Sieten and was a friend of Luca, Kathleen's son. Kathleen stumbles, as does her family and ultimately everyone around her. The lawyer Johanna Deich tries to help the family, but detective Leila Storm cross-examines the teacher. Every day is increasingly becoming a challenge. Given the events, how can life go on for Kathleen and her family?
